Strobe started producing way back when he was 4 years old.
He took his beloved Amiga and hotwired it with his own custom mods, creating what was to become the very first version of Ableton Live all the way back in 1975. As soon as Bob Moog discovered Strobe’s music he set about creating the Moog synthesizer in order to catch up with the sonic futuristic landscape that Strobe was creating all by himself with no help at all from anyone else.
Strobe came to light with his first LP produced in only 12 minutes at his home studio entitled “Strobe – I am Brilliant”. It was instantly hailed as a techno classic by the soon to be DJ magazine, who penciled him in as the number 1 DJ in the top 100 DJ’s chart even though the chart itself would not exist for another 20 or so years. Riche Hawtin was born shortly after this, to a world that had already surpassed Plastikman, Jeff Mills’ first words at kindergarten were “Mom, Strobe is fucking brilliant!”
To say Strobe’s music is forward thinking would be an understatement, an over statement would be “Strobes music is really fucking forward thinking!@” and about right statement would be “Strobes music is great and you need to go and buy it because he is destitute and starving and needs to feed his family of 10 kids.” which is the perfect summary for techno DJs today.
Everyone in the world knows about Strobe really although most are just way too polite to admit it, all the famous DJ’s love him too, and he is often seen hanging around at really big events like in Ibiza because he is just so famous and good looking that people book him to come and NOT play.
